Do you ever get hit by a wave of happiness?
Out of the blue, and unexpectedly?
It happens to me from time to time. Unannounced, it arrives. A feeling of happiness washes over me—entering my crown chakra and flooding down to my toes.
Based on nothing, or something simple and small.
I was reaching for my coffee this morning as it sat on my living room side table, next to a lit candle and a raw rose quartz crystal.
I paused, with my hand outreached and thought, “Wait — wow. Look at this abundance.” It felt like joy. Such simplicity. Noticing my hand curling around the handle of my mug, the candle, and the crystal. Anticipating that first sip of coffee.
As I took that first sip, I looked up to see my dog Murphy sleeping. How does he look so totally adorable just sleeping? How it is possible that literally every day my family and I can’t get over how cute our dogs are? Aren’t we used to them by now after all these years? They still fill us with awe every single day.
And then as I looked up there was the morning light. Each morning as it rises from the east, it reflects on a window opposite from where I sit for my morning routine.
And I felt it.
A wave of happiness. As if my soul was saying, “See? See how abundant this life is? A cup of coffee, a sleeping puppy, the morning light.”
Is my purpose as simple as connecting with the divinity that is all around me… and within me?
When we find ourselves turning on the control spigot or when we’ve been knocked out of alignment with Spirit—and we find ourselves in fear, worry, or resistance. So what can we do?
Notice the abundance that is around us and feel that gratitude.
The sound of a bird; a beautiful ceramic mug; a book of poems; laughing with your child; a tree; a sleeping puppy; the morning light; a community of soul sisters; your sweetheart filling your car with gas; holding hands; a bowl of berries.
Can our path to happiness be this simple?

For the next 30 days, notice the abundance in your life and write it in your journal every morning or before bed. 20 things, every day. Notice the simple things … notice anything.
Just notice.
We when look at our life through the lens of gratitude, we become connected to that invisible field — to Infinite Intelligence, Source, Spirit … or whatever you choose to believe. And that’s when we find ourselves in flow with life and the abundance that is actually already here for us, or is waiting for us to open up to receive.
