Sharing the Things That Were Shared With Me the Day After the Election
A page, a podcast, a song, a poem and other things that have helped ease some of the heaviness on my heart
If you have a heavy heart after the election or are finding yourself in fear-based thinking, some of these things below might help. They’ve helped me today.
These are all things that were shared with me by my friends in my spiritual community throughout today. I can’t tell you how uplifting it was to wake on Wednesday morning with a text from one soul sister with one simple sentence: “Page 199 💫❤️💪🏻.”
That was it, and we all knew. (We being four women in a group text whom I think of as my spiritual moai. I’ll share more about this in a future article.)
No name of the book, no explanation. Yet, we knew where to look. And we knew it was going to be a balm to our heavy hearts. (To The Freedom Transmissions fam, this is page 199 in TFT. Or the chapter called “The Power of Perception” might be calling you — thank you for that, L.C.)
This is why community matters. This is why finding people who help you grow, expand, and see the light when you’re deep in your shadow matters. People who are like-minded seekers on a similar journey.
So, if you find yourself dripping from the fear-spigot today, here are some things that were shared with me by my community (thank you, ladies) that helped me to reframe how I was thinking and feeling — and it might help you, too. Let’s share the light with each other.
Also — I shared this on my Instagram, but I’m offering a free download of my “Peace Begins With Me” meditation. It’s a 3-minute grounding exericse that you may be familiar with already, but I put it together with music to make it nice and easy to just pop in your earbuds and do it. Just click on this link ⬇️, enter in your email, and you’ll get immediate access to the audio.
Some Things to Help Your Heart
Need a Lift with Tim Shriver
How Unconditional Love Helps Us Recover from Our Deepest Wounds
This conversation between host Tim Shriver and Killian Noe, the co-founder of Recovery Cafe, is a heart-opener. The cafes are community centers providing care for people in recovery. In them they “appoint ‘ministers of presence’ whose focus isn’t to fix the person in front of them but to sit with them and listen to their story.” Thank you, dear J.R. for highlighting this beautiful conversation about the power of community and in seeing everyone’s inherent worth.

“Be Still”
Another share by J.R. — She said this song kept showing up in her Spotify feed today. I hadn’t heard it before, but it’s a good one. And the title “Be Still” is good advice. (Hello, Stillness, my old friend. See below for more on this.)
Poem by Chelan Harkin
Thank you another friend, C.S., for sharing this with me. A poem written by Chelan Harkin on election night.
It’s when the earth shakes
And foundations crumble
That our light is called
To rise up.It’s when everything falls away
And shakes us to the core
And awakens all
Of our hidden ghosts
That we dig deeper to find
Once inaccessible strength. It’s in times when division is fierce
That we must reach for each other
And hold each other much
Much tighter.Do not fall away now.
This is the time to rise.
Your light is being summoned.
Your integrity is being tested
That it may stand more tall. When everything collapses
We must find within us
That which is indomitable.Rise, and find the strength in your heart.
Rise, and find the strength in each otherBurn through your devastation,
Make it your fuel.Bring forth your light.
Now is not the time
To be afraid of the dark.

Listen to this Episode on Hold the Light
“The Chambers of the Sacred Heart” from The Freedom Transmissions Book Study Series
I felt drawn to re-listen to this episode on Hold the Light today. I needed some grounding and to remember.
In the episode I cover four energies of peace: Simplicity, Stability, Surrender, and Stillness. However, for the sake of today, I want to focus on Stillness. This is not only about being quiet – it is about “separating from the things, behaviors, people, and stimuli that create dissonance.”
When we are devoted to truly looking beyond noise and chatter, we are able to hear what the Universal love is bringing to us and through us.
When we can embrace Stillness, we will find ourselves communicating more powerfully through our presence and energy, not just our words. As we are taught, Stillness is the language of the Light.
How to connect with the energy of Stillness?
Here are three questions to consider:
What areas of my life lack Stillness? What do I feel obligated to engage and participate in?
How does my mind sabotage feeling of peace in my heart?
Am I willing to participate in the process of bringing more Stillness to life? Even if it means turning off outer stimuli and voices? Even if it means committing to a meditation practice, going out into nature, putting down your phone or turning off the television, creating boundaries within relationships, or releasing people from your life who are controlling, needy, or low vibe.
Let me know what’s been helping you today, if you’ve been feeling knocked out of alignment or if you’ve been feeling like you’re shrouded in darkness. Let’s share the light with each other.
Thanks for reading. Keep holding the light. xo, Laurie
