It's GO Time
On expressing your essence, building your inner channel, and letting the real you come forward (what I learned on the journey...)
The energy that is around us all right now is potent, isn’t it?
I find myself vacillating between being fully energized — let’s go! — and needing to take a nap. I’m rolling with it. Trying not to judge it. Staying curious about what is unfolding. It’s what I keep coming back to, and what I try to encourage for all of us: bring curiosity into your daily life. (Hey, if anything, it’ll keep us young at heart.)
I think part of my own energy surge is the wave I’m still riding after returning from a spiritual journey/retreat with Carissa Schumacher last week. If you’ve been reading this newsletter or have listened to the Hold the Light podcast, you’re likely familiar with Carissa and with The Freedom Transmissions, the book she channeled. Carissa is a full-body channel, an intuitive guide, and a forensic psychic medium. I often tell people that the veil between Carissa and “the other side” is whisper thin. (Or maybe nonexistent?) Her ability to connect with the unseen is, in a word, astounding.
This was my fifth journey with Carissa and the community that has formed around this work. I am starting to see familiar faces. The energy of this particular journey felt light and lovely — the messages we received, lots of hugs, the joy of reunion, and the warmth of meeting new people for the first time, too. This is what community looks like.
It’s Time to Express
One of the central messages of this journey was this:
We’ve done all the learning. Now it’s time to express. Let it rip.
We are, most of us, excellent learners. We read, we study, we sit with ideas, we integrate. It’s fun to learn when it’s something we’re deeply interested in. I personally love it and want to take every class or workshop. But there comes a moment — and I believe we are in it — when the season of incubation gives way to expression. When it’s no longer enough to hold what we know inside for ourselves, or for a select few.
The keywords of this journey were: essence, listening, grace, and channeling. And woven through all of it was this thread: we have come to a time when we can no longer sustain a split self. One version of ourselves on the surface, and a truer, deeper self hidden underneath. One we show some people but are afraid to show others.
It may feel safe to keep that split. And yes — there are absolutely circumstances where we need to make discerning choices about where and with whom we are fully ourselves. Please, take care of yourself. But ultimately, when we hide the deeper self, we are essentially abandoning ourselves. We are tucking away parts of who we are so that other people can feel more comfortable.
As it was shared on the journey: Courage is choosing to let the struggle die so that the warrior can transform again.
Release the struggle of trying to be something for everyone. Of trying to please everyone. Of trying not to disappoint. Of bending and shape-shifting ourselves depending on what room, platform, community, or conversation we are in.
So that the warrior within can transform again into something that is real for no one else but ourselves.
The Pause That Changes Everything
I was reading Shades of Hope from The Freedom Transmissions this morning and this stood out: The chapter speaks of separation — not as loss, but as something we gain. (As the light manifestation or version of separation.) It describes separation as a sacred space where “separation creates choice, it creates an identity between self and the outer world, and more than anything, it creates a space between the ego’s illusion of self and the exquisite Truth of your Divine self.”
And further, that taking space to separate from a nagging anxiety, a distorted thought, a trust issue, or a constant frustration is “a wonderful, wonderful practice.” It gives us the pause to discern what is truth and what is fiction.
This reminded me of what was shared on the journey — the power of the pause. Of listening. When we stop letting the ego run the show, when we stop feeding the ghost stories it tells us about who we are and what the world is (keeping us in an energy of fear and worry), we create room for something far more authentic to come through.
So, here’s what I’ve been working with a lot these days: we have all the answers we’re seeking within us. No person, no teacher, no thing outside of us holds the final word. The work is building that soul muscle — returning, again and again, to our own inner authority and sovereignty. It’s building and shoring up our internal foundation.
But, we need that separation — we need to pause — to hear the inner authority and intuitive guide within us.
We Are All Channels
Wild thought, right?
One of the most “excuse me, what?” things shared on this journey was that channeling is not a special gift reserved for a few. It’s literally all of us.
It is the natural movement of our essence both inward and outward. Vertical connection (to the Divine — through reflection, prayer, dreams, time in nature) and horizontal connection (giving out to the world around you — through eye contact, creativity, listening, presence, touch, etc).
Your unique way of expressing is your channeling.
And please note: being a channel does not mean you need to be a channel like Carissa where you’re bringing forth someone or something.
It’s simply being you: 100% human and 100% divine as our girl Meggan Watterson speaks of – and letting that inform how you move through this world. Again, not outsourcing to others. Letting yourself be the source.
But we need to practice it and build our intuition muscle and inner knowing.
It’s how we can find the answers within us. It’s deepening our connection to divine guidance and building this reflex:
Listen (pause) → receive (pause)→ integrate (pause) → express
As we learned, the more you practice it, the more naturally your own channel flows.
Notice: what messages are you receiving? What is the voice, vision, inner knowing telling to you? Let’s this be fun! Be curious and open, my friends.
A Few Journaling Prompts
What parts of yourself have you tucked away that are ready to come forward?
Where are you still sustaining a split self — and how can you start to close that gap?
When did you last truly pause and listen — not to find solutions or answers, but just to receive?
The world needs your essence… yours, mine, all of us. As we learned last week, presence is as powerful as performance.
It’s GO time.

Thank you for sharing! Personal channeling instructions are very helpful. Best to you.
