April Energy & Eclipses: An Update
What you need to know about the 8th, the 20th, and everything in between
Oh wow. Who else is feeling the energy of this month?
We are living in a combo punch of Aries Season, eclipse season, and Mercury Retrograde. And it doesn’t matter if you don’t know or follow astrology. This energy will find you, whether you believe it in or not — because we are all made of energy and our antenna picks up everything that’s around us. We vibrate with the cosmos as well as what’s happening in the collective.
And what I’ve been hearing in the collective, in my community, is that many of us are experiencing emotional highs and lows. High-highs and low-lows. This energy is real. Are you feeling it? I am. One minute I feel electrified and am jumping for joy over seeing a rainbow; the next minute I’m crying over an imagined worry I think might happen in my future. (Even though I know better than to do this.)
A dear friend of mine recently told me that she was reminded by someone in the astrology/human design space that it is our work right now to find the balance – the middle ground – within these intense highs and lows we are experiencing. Because when we let the outside dictate how we feel on the inside, boy, we are setting ourselves up for feeling perpetually chaotic and untethered. So, how to get to that middle ground? It’s through some of the usual suspects: meditation; sitting in silence; embracing moments of stillness; prayer; being in nature; and putting boundaries around what we read, watch, and the conversations we’re involved in.
It’s constantly working on that self-awareness muscle, knowing that this too shall pass – both the high and the low.
LET’S TALK APRIL AND ASTROLOGY
First, I’m no astrologer, but I am interested in understanding astrology as one of the tools in my personal and spiritual growth toolbox.
Below I’m sharing some info of what I’ve heard, read and have been told about this month.
So, we are in Aries Season right now. According to Jill Wintersteen from Spirit Daughter, Aries Season is an “opportunity to understand your purpose with the support of the cosmos. Its fiery energy helps motivate you to uncover your passions…” and to help you answer questions like “What is my purpose? How will I recognize it? And how do I embrace it fully?”
And it’s also eclipse season.
Astrologer Shelley Warren (with whom I recently did a fantastic online workshop) tells us not to fear eclipses. As she says, eclipses are never meant to be omens of doom. Eclipses initiate changes, but these changes are meant as an opportunity for growth. They “do for us what we can’t or won’t do for ourselves!”
In our workshop, Shelly said that until April 8th, it’s an emotionally charged time, and that there is a powerful energy of uncertainty and unplanned feelings. Yes, Shelley – we are feeling it!
So in these next couple days, be gentle and patient. Try to find that middle ground among those highs and lows.
Monday, April 8th: Aries New Supermoon and the Total Solar Eclipse
Solar eclipses are about new beginnings. It’s power and purpose time!
On this particular New Moon and Total Solar Eclipse, it’s a time to consider what no longer serves you. What are you ready to let go of, what piece of your old life might you be ready to leave behind? And how do you want to step into your power and purpose? Start percolating ideas … but also chill out.
No need to push anything, at least not until April 20th. Which brings us to…
April 20th: Welcome to your Genius Zone
April 20th is a HOT DATE!
According to Shelley, it’s a significant astrological event with potential implications for both individuals and collective energies.
Astrologically speaking, Uranus and Jupiter come together in Taurus – meaning that it brings a period of significant change, growth, and innovation. It invites us to embrace new possibilities and “explore innovative solutions for creating a more prosperous and sustainable future.”
As Ophi and Tali from The AstroTwins say, “expansive Jupiter and change-maker Uranus make contact once every 14 years, rousing our inner revolutionaries.” Let’s go, people! Celebrate your ideas – and if they feel a bit “out there,” this is the time to embrace it. Playing it safe right now is not the name of the game. What feels wildly weird and original to you? Go in that direction.
Think of this date as your Genius Zone. Treat this date — actually the whole weekend — as an incubator of ideas. What are you capable of? Take time to let your big ideas come through without overthinking. Use this weekend to journal, walk, meditate, connect with your spirit guides and the Universe. Ask for guidance from your team of light. Let those downloads have space to come in. Be open to people and opportunities you might start to attract.
SIDEBAR: Shelley and I are hosting another workshop on Friday, April 19th where Shelley will talk about your North Node, otherwise known as your destiny. This is about where you are heading in life. We are hosting two workshops on this day, limited to six people per workshop (one at 3:00 PM PST/6:00 PM EST and another at 5:00 PM PST/8:00 PM EST). These groups are limited because each person will get their own personalized reading from Shelly. If you want to join, click here for more info.
April 1 - April 25: Mercury is in Retrograde
Yes, you heard right. Mercury is in Retrograde.
Don’t: fret and freak out.
Do: Slow down and be patient, but start laying the groundwork for what’s to come. Journal, journal, journal! Keep something at the ready for you to write down ideas during this time, whether it’s a notebook or your Notes app.
As you are percolating and releasing and dreaming, Shelley recommends that we don’t actually act on anything until after April 25 when Mercury is no longer in retrograde.
Until then, double check your travel, tickets, and tech. Mercury is the planet associated with transportations, communication and technology. Realize that there may be hiccups and everything might not work totally in your favor, but to keep going... keep making your plans and schemes behind the scenes.
Since this Mercury retrograde is in Aries, Shelley tells us that this will be a period of intense energy and impulsiveness, “which may affect communication and decision-making.” And tech and transpo issues arise more frequently during this time. Keep that in mind when making plans.
She does tell us that on a positive note, “Mercury retrograde in Aries can also offer opportunities for revisiting past projects or ideas with renewed enthusiasm and energy. It encourages reflection and reassessment of one’s goals and actions, leading to potential breakthroughs or insights once the retrograde period concludes.” Um, yes.
As always, thank you for reading. If you are interested in joining the North Node workshop, sign up or let me know if you have questions. It’s going to be a fun, informative, and intimate event — and spaces are selling out.
Keep holding the light!

Laurie
